High-Love: gateway to a new music genre.

No, it’s not the classic dub techno as it is heard in Berlin and other big cities. And it’s certainly not reggaedub, ambient or goa either. But what is it then? People who tend to categorize music may find it not so easy to familiarize with High-Love.

Nevertheless, the music contains many well-known elements falling under clear genres. Anyone who loves reggae, dub and ambient techno will experience a symbiosis of these classics. Because High-Love merges all these areas into one level with plenty of room for dancing and dreaming.

It is unmistakable that High-Love‘s works have a very real spiritual depth. The stories conveyed by the music as well as the accompanying video clips open up a world where there is more than earthly concerns. Beyond all religions and their gods, references are rather made to ancient myths, languages and legends. The UV painting on face and body shows a balance between light and darkness. The artist plays with both: visually representing the two sides and musically contrasting the low basses (darkness) with the high frequencies (light).

How was High-Love‘s music created?

“I listened to reggae for about 15 years and also played live as a guitarist. I also worked many years in sound engineering, where I was allowed to provide sound for the gigs of well-known DJs. Then one day I mixed techno and reggae just to realize that a very special sound unfolded. Later, when I took dives into the past of Vikings and Slavs, an exciting overall picture emerged. One that constantly changes its face, which I want to express through the various face paintings. Runes, ancient writings and ritual paintings – all of this gradually became the High-Love world that I depict today. As an artist, I represent the portal guardian to this world. I open the gates and accompany people on spiritual journeys through time. Love and peace are the core messages. Just like freedom and justice. That‘s why I clearly see the kinky scene with its sex-positive festivals as well as independent clubs in the world’s big cities as a possible focus.”

It is music for people who don‘t necessarily want to leave home to experience a psychedelic journey and let themselves go to the sounds and grooves.
